Collo wins the World Dairy Innovation Award 2026

Written by Johanna Uitti | Jun 18, 2026

What a night. There's something about Barcelona in June — the light, the warmth, the buzz in the room — and now there's a trophy to carry home! We're at the Global Dairy Congress, and last night the World Dairy Innovation Awards 2026 named Collo the winner in Manufacturing Innovation.🏆 We cheered, we hugged, we may have stayed up far too late celebrating — and this morning we're still buzzing. What a place, and what a moment, to be recognised.

Why a dairy award means so much to us

Of all the rooms we could win in, this is the one. Dairy is where liquid process intelligence earns its keep. Cream, milk, cheese, whey — every transfer, every changeover, every cleaning cycle is a moment where good product can quietly slip away. Mass-balance has been telling dairy producers for years that the gap is real. What's been missing is a way to see exactly where it happens, and a way to close it.

That's the Collo Platform. Our RF Analyzer measures inline, in real time, reading the liquid as it moves through the line. The platform turns that into something an operator can act on in the moment, not a lab result that arrives hours too late. One platform, on the line, showing the loss and helping stop it.

The size of the prize

Here's what makes dairy so exciting to us: the impact isn't marginal, it's enormous. Liquid losses across a typical plant run at several percent of throughput and that compounds across every transition, every CIP, every shift, every site in a group. When you can find that loss and remove it, you're not shaving a rounding error. You're recovering serious water, serious product, serious margin, and cutting the emissions that come with all of it. Less waste, lower energy, better numbers.

When product goes down the drain, it's invisible; you only see the effect later. Once they could see it, they could act on it, and the savings followed. We're now working alongside many dairies who are making that same shift, from suspecting the loss to measuring it.

The conversations that stay with us

Honestly, the trophy is only half of what we're taking home. The other half is the conversations. Between sessions and over coffee in the Barcelona sun, we've sat down with dairies from across Europe and beyond — plant managers, process engineers, sustainability leads — and the talk gets real fast. Where product slips away during changeovers. The CIP cycles that run long "just to be safe." The yield gap everyone can feel but no one can pinpoint. These aren't sales pitches; they're shared problems, and the fact that so many producers are ready to tackle them head-on tells us the industry is shifting. Those conversations are why we do this.

Building the Zero-Loss Factory

This is the future we're building toward: the Zero-Loss Factory. A plant where the loss isn't accepted as the cost of doing business, but found and stopped at source. Some producers are already on that path with us. This award tells us the industry is ready to walk it and ready to make dairy not just more efficient, but genuinely more sustainable.

Anna Ranki and I are both here in Barcelona. If you want to see what the platform sees on a real dairy line, come and find us between sessions. We'd love to talk through what it could mean for your plant.

Thank you

To our team, to the dairy producers who trusted us early, and to FoodBev and the World Dairy Innovation Awards judges — thank you. This one means a lot.

Now, back out into the Barcelona sun. Here's to turning every drop into value! 🥛☀️
